Memorial service for Coast Guardsman Bernard Webber

WELLFLEET,Mass.--A memorial service was held to honor Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer Bernard Webber, 80, who passed away Jan. 24, 2009. As a young Petty Officer, Webber was the coxswain of the CG36500 motor lifeboat that helped rescue 32 crew members from the ill-fated Pendleton tanker that split in half several miles off Chatham on Cape Cod. Webber and three other crewmen aboard the CG36500 braved a raging storm the night of Feb. 19, 1952 to rescue the crew and bring them safely back to shore.
